OVERVIEW

This project proposes the adaptive reuse and extension of a vacant corner plot in Hackney, East London, into a mixed-use development that integrates hospitality, commercial, and craft-focused spaces. The design re-establishes street frontage while enhancing permeability through a ground-floor public café and flexible workshop units. A new massing strategy complements the scale of surrounding buildings, introducing a contemporary language rooted in material honesty and urban sensitivity. Prioritising walkability, passive design, and social interaction, the scheme reactivates the local block and repositions architecture as a tool for long-term neighbourhood resilience.
